Bahowo
Lodge is a five minute car
ride from the Thalassa Padi 5* Dive Centre, (we
provide a free, on demand shuttle service between
Bahowo Lodge and the Dive Centre for our guests)
and a
short boat ride from the beautiful islands of Siladen,
Bunaken, and Manado Tua. We therefore have easy
access to the world-renowned Bunaken coral reefs,
which offer some of the best diving anywhere. Lembeh
Strait is an easy day trip from Bahowo Lodge which
allows for 3 dives in this world famous "muck
diving" area. We can arrange the diving (or
snorkelling) for you, whether you are an experienced
diver or want to try scuba-diving for the first
time.
Diving from Bahowo
This
can be broadly divided into four main areas; The
Bunaken Park islands and mainland coast, Bangka
and Ganga islands, Lembeh and Poopoh, all of which
are within an easy boat ride Lembeh Strait is either
reached by boat or car depending on sea conditions.
Between them, these areas
provide the complete range of diving environments and topography, from
sheer drop – offs to sandy slopes. The variety of species of fishes,
hard and soft corals, invertebrates and other marine life is truly
bewildering, and more are being identified all the time. To name but a
few, various shark species, moray eels, sea snakes, turtles, various
octopi, eagle and manta rays, barracuda, dolphins, napoleon wrasse,
frogfish, ghost pipefish, manta shrimps, seahorses, leaf fish, nudibranch
etc etc are regularly sighted. The Lembeh strait alone is world –
renowned for its’ weird and wonderful fauna, and the superb condition
and variety of corals found within the Park are truly breathtaking..
